It's the end of an era

My man in tennis retired last night. He pretty much got raped by Hewitt but at the end he still celebrated by wearing the No.10 Croatian soccer guernsey and bowing for the crowd. I'm not sure who that is but being the No.10 guernsey, i guess it's their best player. I dont know i find patriotism quite ugly at times....but he's my man in tennis.

Anyway I'm going to celebrate this moment with a few bits of gold

'I wouldn't want to go to a sports psychiatrist, because when you're finished, you come out more crazy than you go in.' 'I still break racquets, but now I do it in a positive way.'

'I changed my attitude in my head. I had to have a press conference with myself. After I did the press conference, everything was working.'

'The trouble with me is that every match I play against five opponents: umpire, crowd, ball boys, court, and myself.'

When you ask him about a plan to speed up matches, he explains: "Good. I like to play fast. Too many players bounce the ball, they look at me, they look at the ground. They bounce it 10 times. They look at the sky. They bounce it again an' I fall asleep."

"It was the happiest day of my life. It came out of nowhere, it was like a dream, a fairytale.. I went back to my home city Split to celebrate and nearly 200,000 out of a city of 350,000 turned up for me. It was unbelievable. We were singing songs and I stripped in front of so many. I'd only ever stripped in front of my girlfriend before that!

I’ve decided to address the important issues that affect my life

Customer Complaint: Trivial Pursuit 2002

Dear Trivial Pursuit makers,

About 7 months ago I bought the 2002 edition of trivial pursuit. Having been very satisfied with the 1998 edition but having exhausted most of the questions I was very much looking forward to this new edition and so I bought the set for the rather expensive price of $90.00.

After owning the game for some time. I’d have to say that I’m extremely dissatisfied on the grounds that very little effort has gone into making this edition and as a consumer who expects quality and consitency I would have expected a little more.

Firstly when I opened the box I was extremely disappointed to see a half sized box of cards. After playing the game about 5 times, we already began to hear questions we had heard before. I only bought the edition so I could hear some new questions and already they are old.

Secondly I don’t believe much creativity has gone into constructing the questions. In the sport and leisure category, about 75% of the questions are pertaining to the Sydney 2000 olympics. It’s as if you got the medal tally sheet and forced as many questions out of that as you possibly could. I find questions like “who won the gold in the womens 400”, “who won the silver in the mens long jump”, “who won the silver in the pole vault” and many more like this extremely repetitive and unimaginitive.

Lastly I have an issue with the ambiguity that is rampant in this set.

“who is the most successful female artist ever?”…can you please define success? Does she sell the most records? does she have the most money? has she had more number 1 hits than anyone else?

“how did captain blah blah die?”…”he was the captain of the titanic” is not the answer to this question. Being the captain of a sinking ship is not a cause of death. How is anyone supposed to answer that question and get it right? My partner said he “drowned” and of course the prats who read the question wouldn’t allow it cos he might have got squashed by the piano – it’s plausible?

“What is the name of the Serial Killer in silence of the Lambs?”….it’s annoying that I have to sit there and choose 1 of the serial killer between the 2 that exist in the movie. So I chose Buffalo Bill - after all he was the one they were trying to catch but evidentally you believe that the ONLY serial killer in Silence of the lambs is “Hannibal Lectre”.

These are my frustrations. Please take note. I own a lot of trivial pursuit boards and wedges/cheese/pies and die, I don’t really need anymore. If you could spend less effort, in fact no effort in making the board, spend more time on making the questions and regularly release a full sized box of new questions and in turn make them a little bit cheaper due to the absence of the board, wedges/cheese/pies and dice that would make me happy! I am still a big lover of the game but the 2002 edition trully sucks and I trust that there will be some major improvements in your newest edition. If not I probably wont be buying any more

While I’m here I would just like to express one personal preference of mine, which is not fair to class as a complaint. I don’t like the brown – art and literature category and much prefferred the wild card category.

Regards
Tanya
