cd label saga

All i wanted was some cd labels. I found the avery labels and they were really expensive so i looked for an alternative and a man pointed me in the direction of some other labels. Now these labels were much cheaper so i was ready to buy but the man told me i had to buy a stomper kit to go with it. So i queried him on what the stomper kit actually does and this is how the conversation went, and because i dont know his name lets just refer to him as "idiot"

idiot: the stomper affixes a label to your cd.
me: Oh that's ok i can just put them on by hand.
idiot: Let me tell you it is IMPOSSIBLE to get a label on a cd without a stomper.
me: Nah i've labelled at least 50 cds in the past without a stomper and it was fine

This is what he said, no shit i swear to god this is what he said

idiot: If you are perfect and can get the cd label on without the stomper then fine, obviously I cant FORCE you to buy the stomper but you run the VERY big risk of getting a coaster, because you see if you DONT affix the label perfectly you will have to peel it back and you WILL peel the film from the cd-r giving you a coaster".

ok so let me work this out, simple maths here, i bought 50 cd-r's for $33.98 that works out to about 67 cents per cdr, that is, i waste 67cents if I "miss perfect" fuck up when affixing the label to the cd. This is a risk i was willing to take to save me from buying the $35 stomper kit.

miss perfect: Well what's the cost of a cd-r if i stuff it up? (pointing at my $33.98 spindle of cd-rs)

idiot: a coaster is a coaster and believe me, you dont want coaster, not to mention the ink you waste on the label.

anyway jon was saying that i should invest all my money in shares and at that point i thought perhaps i could invest in the company that makes the cd stomper...a great innovative idea and with intelligent salesmen like this on your side how could you go wrong?

ok so the pigeon saga is over. i awoke to find the pigeon still alive when i got to work we made a few phone calls and found vet around the corner willing to take it. i dont want to know what happened to the pigeon after that i tend to think it would be in pigeon heaven right now but at least not in pain if that is the case.

so all this pigeon talk and no time to reflect on the weekend....so

Saw r on Friday night. Thought I was well and trully past it, after all, it has been a long time. As they say out of sight out of mind but seeing made me feel very nostalgic. He was his usual charming self, greeting me with a huge smile, a kiss and a hug and even fished for information about me and a boyfriend. And that’s it! That’s the sad story, after nearly a year of solid work convincing myself that he’s a total womanising arse, I got completely sucked in to thinking he is wonderful….AGAIN…and now here I am writing about him…I’m fighting a losing battle here….SIGH

Anyway following seeing r went to the grace and for some reason we seem to meet a lot of backpackers from europe when we go there (probably the hostel across the road). So a guy was playing pool and began speaking to me and I noticed an accent but it was very hard to identify So I said “oh you have an accent, where are you from?”. He replied “Actually I’m from here. I wear a hearing aid but I’m trying”…

fuckit I’m such a loser sometimes. He was really sweet so I presume he didn’t take offense. Either that or he just felt sorry for me.

Mickey blue eyes and Joe with BO were there too but this time no BO, it’s amazing how much a bit of body odour can ruin a cute face and an even cuter irish accent.

On Saturday was the big highly anticipated poker game. I had fun except for being on Rk's table because a) he ended up being the winner and b) he had to leave the table every 2 minutes to make sure everyone else knew the rules. This made it very slow poker. Anyway I played way too consevatively and lost...i don’t know how I got so conservative. I fear I’m the rock. The rule book says don’t become a rock.

That's it! Insert pigeon saga now.

Ps i fear that if i told james to jump off a cliff he actually would.

An injured pigeon walked into the lab today. It couldnt fly although at first i didnt know that so i walked it out the back door and when i did it hopped into the middle of the road and nearly got run over. Then I tried to catch it but it ran under a parked car...so there i was lying on the ground trying to catch an injured pigeon. Anyway i finally got it and called the animal welfare league. They told me to ring some people called bob and trish. bob and trish weren't home...so i brought it home. I have no idea how to care for a pigeon...an internet search told me i should give it warmth, water, stale bread and grains...I found some stale multigrain bread but its not eating. I hope it makes it through the night i dont have a hot water bottle so i had to put the big heater out there, that should keep it warm. a lot of effort.
